TREATMENT OF 33 PATIENTS WITH PERITONEAL MESOTHELIOMA

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer in which mesothelium cells becomes out of control and divides without any order. This activity can aggravate the tissues and organs of surrounding. These malignant cells can be spread throughout the body to invade seriously. Every year around one thousand people diagnose with mesothelioma in Houston, U.S. It more chances of development in men as compare to women. With the age increasing, chances are mesothelioma increases. However, it can be develop in men or women at any stage of life.
Peritoneal mesothelioma occurs in one third part of patients of mesothelioma. This disease is considered as fatal cancer along with fewer options of treatments.
Around 33 patients of peritoneal mesothelioma were reviewed with their complete background history of disease respectively. Their clinical details and demography was also analyzed. After that same kind of treatment were given to all the patients of mesothelioma involving surgery and chemotherapy.
It was calculated that they were 10 women and 23 men and the mean age of those patients were fifty three. During analysis it was disclosed that five of them were exposed to asbestos and thirteen of them have mesothelioma cancer in their family. Mostly people had the symptom of abdominal pain. These patients were given all the possible treatments of mesothelioma according to their condition. But still some of them survive for 31 months and some extend up to 3 years. According to the treatment strategy of mesothelioma, morbidity rate of their treatment is around 33% and mortality rate is around 3%. But still they could not guarantee the removal of mesothelioma.
Mesothelioma does not have still complete treatment. All the available options are just better the condition of patient and to relief him from the pain only, at the last stage it leaves with your life.
