DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PLEURAL AND PERICARDIAL
As mesotheliomasymptoms are shown after many years to 90% it is very difficult to diagnose mesothelioma because they occur after the long time duration form the exposure and symptoms shown for mesothelioma are also similar to other less dangerous diseases associated with lungs. All these factors make it almost difficult to diagnose the disease at the stage where it could be treated properly. After the suspicions of doctors various tests are conducted to get the confirmation of the disease. After the confirmation, a test namely biopsy is taken for analyzing the fluid and tissues condition for getting the idea about the type of mesothelioma. These types include pleural mesothelioma and pericardial mesothelioma. If the type of mesothelioma is pleural mesothelioma than the following strategy is used.
There are three most important stages are included in the treatment of pleural mesothelioma. At the first surgery is done then the chemotherapy is used and finally radiotherapy is suggested for the patient. Mostly combination of two or more options is used to give the treatment of pleural mesothelioma.
As soon diagnosis is made as much helpful for treating the patient and more number of options is available to choose the best. If the tumor is detected at the early stages than curative surgery can be very help full in removing the cancerous cell from the body.
If the type of disease is pericardial mesothelioma than in most cases surgery is not used for treatment. Because it is not suppose to be suitable, but if the disease is diagnosed at the initial level then surgery is use to remove small cancerous cells. Actually surgery is very risky because it appears around the heart. So the palliative strategy is used.In this method only reducing the severity of pain can be done to improve the living condition of the patient.
