PLEURAL DISEASESPleural mesothelioma and all its related diseases start by attacking through the pleural membrane. It is a membrane which surrounds lungs and chest. If mesothelioma attacks pleural it creates difficulty in breathing. Most common symptom of pleural mesothelioma is chest pain. Chest pain is a major symptom of all other diseases related to pleural including pleural mesothelioma. Benign and malignant pleural diseases have primary symptoms of chest pain and shortness of breathing. Shortness of breath occurs due to the interruption in the fluid which flows between the lungs and membrane around lungs. Benign diseases are those which are non progressing means they do not expand in other parts of body while malignant is most dangerous form of disease as it attacks on pleural and slowly spread out in the whole body. Fluid presented in our pleural space help out our lungs in breathing by flowing smoothly in a proper manner between lungs and pleural. It revolves in a state of producing and removing in and from the lungs. When the asbestos is inhaled in a body they directly come in the lungs part and become the reason of producing excess of fluid which disturb the proper function of lungs breathing and extra amount of fluid accumulated around lungs. At this stage breathing issues start appearing and this stage in known as pleural effusion. One main thing should be noticed over here that pleural diffusion can be an initial stage of pleural mesothelioma, but it is not necessary that if you have pleural effusion than you have pleural mesothelioma. Pleural diseases are common. If you have experience an exposure to asbestos than you has 50 % chances of having pleural disease of any kind. Pleural disease is common in many other cancer related diseases like lungs cancer and chest cancer, although they are not related to pleural mesothelioma or malignant mesothelioma. |
